The story of Michal

Michal was the daughter of King Saul. She and young David fell in love. They married, but madness took hold of Saul and he wanted to kill David. Michal helped her husband escape from the bedroom window. He had to go into hiding and Michal was overcome by sadness and loneliness. Her father married her off to Phalti Ben Laish, a friend of the family.

Something snapped in Michal; separated from the man she loved, thinking it would be for ever, she banned all emotion from her heart. After Saul's death, David became king and he sent for Michal. There was little left of their old love. Michal was deeply embarrassed by her husband's outrageous behaviour. They no longer understood each other, and it stayed that way until her death.
