Biblical themes (a selection)
It all started with a series that I did for my graduation, about Michal, the daughter of Saul, and the first wife of king David. Since then I have photographed Tamar, Zuleika (the wife of Potiphar), Rahab, Miriam and Rebecca. They are all part of "Eternal Women, portraits of women from the Old Testament", which has become a long-term project that I will probably be working on for the rest of my life.
The women fascinate and move me. They are like a mirror: they reach out to me with their specifically female problems and solutions. I recognise these, in spite of a completely different social context.
The series with the little boy is really about Isaiah 6, but it deals very much with the creation; the circles within the Old Testament are very visible here.
The pictures are small theatrical productions, in which the dramaturgy plays a big part end where the input of the models is essential.
